Dr. Alex Stewart

Alex Stewart joined Marquette University in 2000 after ten years on the faculty of Texas Tech University. At Marquette he serves as Coleman Foundation Chairholder and Director of the Kohler Center for Entrepreneurship in the College of Business. Currently he is Chair of the Entrepreneurship Division of the Academy of Management, the major association of Management scholars.

Trained in Social Anthropology and Entrepreneurship, he has developed expertise in organizational entrepreneurship (reflected in his book Team Entrepreneurship) and in the use of anthropological methods and theories (reflected in his book The Ethnographer's Method). Lately he has brought this anthropological expertise to a pioneering group of scholars working to develop a scholarly basis for family business studies.

At Marquette University, he is assembling a network of collaborators, such as Tim Keane, the Entrepreneur-in-Residence, and the Golden Angels Network, to facilitate wealth creation in the region. Naturally, they focus on ventures being created by MU students and alumni, but also very high potential startups and enterprise in Milwaukee's central city.
